Year 11 Journey camp
During week 6 in March the year 11 group of Garin College went out on their annual Journey camp, this year to Whenua Iti. This was due to the Takaka hill road undergoing repairs after cyclone Gita, preventing the original plan of staying at Canaan Downs. Even with the late changes to the venue the Whenua Iti staff organized and presented a range challenging yet achievable and enjoyable activities. The eight groups of students all participated in the activities of: team-building exercises, kayaking, mountain biking, tramping and high ropes. The weather was also much appreciated by all, with the sky blue in the days and the nights not being too cold, perfect for the open air sleeps each group had. Next year we look forward to exploring the terrain up at Canaan Downs during the next Journey camp.
