Tournament Week- Football

Last week both our Girls and Boys First X1 team went on tournament. The boys had a great experience at the Jim Wishart tournament in Timaru. The lads scored 22 goals over 5 matches and placed 10th over all. Logan Ford was nominated MVP by the other teams we played. Our boys behaviour was exemplary and we received many complements from everyone we engaged with. The Girls First X1 played the Gary Snowdan tournament and did equally well placing 11th in a pool of 16th. Grace Roach was voted MVP by the team on her tournament. This team has a stunning future ahead of them. Many of the players are in year 9 and 10. We will not be losing players next season as there no Y13 girls in the squad. Thanks for the great tournament. Special thanks to Rob for coaching during the season and taking time off work to take the girls all last week. Also to Tracy for doing such a great job with the food and caring for the girls. It was fantastic that all the families provided so much food which made it easier while away. Our performance on the pitch was good. We were unlucky to come across the overall 3rd and 4th place getters in our pool which unfortunately put us in the bottom half of the draw after the first day. However, we took on a number of good teams and the development of our play was obvious over the week. Our results were Monday Lost 2-0 to St Matthews Lost 6-0 to Lincoln Won 9-0 against Westland High School Won 1-0 against Rangi Ruru Lost 2-1 against Villa Won 5-1 against Hillmorton A massive thanks to Rob Cant working with our girls for so many years. Also a big thanks to all the parents who supported us both on the road and through baking.
